Chronic Illness and Health Issues
VITAL, EMBODIED FREEDOM IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT!
Your body isn’t broken, but it sure feels like it!
You have been in bed for days. The soul-crushing fatigue, migraines, chronic pain, chemo fog, and feelings that you will never get well are no joke.
You have done everything “right.” You saw all the doctors. Tried all the elimination diets. Experimented with all the new treatments. And you’re still sick.
Or, you aren’t sick anymore, but life has gone on without you. While you were locked in the throes of illness, your friends and peers moved on, got married, had kids, and grew their careers.
And here you are now, wondering how you manage all the grief, anger, pain, and everything you couldn’t feel while you were so busy trying to survive.
COME HOME TO YOUR BODY…
To get through, you had to put on a brave face, check out, or worse, shut yourself off from your body completely. You are tired of working so hard to stay afloat. You are tired of being so damn tired.
Because you had to check out, you don’t even know what your body feels. Or you are angry and resentful for all the life you lost while living in a body that was sick for so long.
But somewhere within you, however distant it might feel, lives the desire, if not for total physical wellness (though I am rooting for that), at least to make peace with what you have lived through.
Or even better, something wakes you up one day, and you remember your body is a gift – and there is something to learn here.
You get the sense that healing is not just about symptoms going away but cultivating a whole new relationship with your body just as it is.
Finally, you are ready to make the long journey home.
THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE THAN JUST BEING SICK!
And this is where I come in. First, let me say, Sister, I see you – I feel you. And I know this has been hard.
How do I know this? Well, I have made this same very long journey back to my own body. Like you, I lived with (and thankfully, mostly healed) various chronic illnesses for over a decade.
I was that woman in bed wondering if I could ever get up. I was the woman whose life came to a screeching halt while everyone else’s moved on around me. I was that woman who saw all the doctors and tried all the healing diets.
And let me tell you, I was also that woman who was so damn tired of working so hard and still feeling so damn tired.
So, when I say I see you, I really see you.
BUT HEALING IS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST GETTING THE SYMPTOMS TO GO AWAY.
I was also that woman who was so angry, resentful, and full of so much grief. But one day, I realized that healing was way more than getting my symptoms to go away. Real healing was about learning to stop fighting and begin to make peace with my body just as it was.
The real healing began when I one day realized that my body was a gift, and there was something valuable to learn from it.
Also, I have worked with many women like you, women who have lived with years of chronic health issues. These are the women who received life-shattering diagnoses and battled terminal illnesses. I have supported them in various stages of healing, and where recovery was not possible, I helped them learn to make peace with what is.
I see you. You are not alone.
SO, BACK TO THIS EMBODIED FREEDOM BIRTHRIGHT STUFF.
Through this work, I can’t say that your pain, fatigue, or other symptoms will go away (though I do have some solid solutions to share, and I am certainly shooting for the stars for you). However, no matter what your body feels, you don’t have to be a victim of it, and your illness does not have to be a life sentence.
The possibility of freedom, ease, and embodiment is within reach, even if your body does not feel awesome. And you know what else is within reach? The possibility that your body might one day feel awesome.
YOUR HEALING COMES FROM THE SURRENDER, NOT FROM THE FIGHT.
Yes, you read that right. In our work together, you will learn how to surrender and stop fighting. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but all that fighting is a big part of what is causing you so much suffering.
Instead, you will learn how to inhabit your body, feel your body, and care about your body. And maybe one day, you will make friends with your body.
You will learn how to be present with pain and grief and that you are so much more than just your illness. You will cultivate a whole new relationship with your body, creating a loving home within yourself that can handle anything your body might throw at you.
And along the way, you will experience the kind of healing that comes, not from changing your body, but from making peace with your body, just as it is.
So, are you ready to make the journey home? If so, I will gladly walk it with you, seeing and supporting you every step of the way!
